10-Day Taiwan Photo Workshop
Day 1: Arrival in Taipei
Arrival at the airport and private transfer. Check-in at the hotel, first impressions of the city.
Day 2: Taipei
The day begins early with a street photography session in Shuanglian market, focusing on portraits and everyday life, guided by a local expert who facilitates interactions. A walk through industrial and residential areas leads to Dihua, where photogenic alleys, lunch, and a coffee break provide opportunities to relax and review morning shots. In the afternoon, the group visits landmarks like the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial and artistic or historic districts, ending the day with dinner at leisure and overnight in Taipei.
Day 3: Taipei
The day starts in Songshan with a calm, creative atmosphere, exploring cafés, galleries, and quiet streets for contemplative photography, including possible encounters with artisans and mini-workshops. Lunch features a traditional restaurant with an optional kitchen photography session. In the afternoon, the group moves to modern Xinyi for architectural and reflective compositions, possibly around Taipei 101. The evening concludes with vibrant night market scenes and dinner at a Taiwanese izakaya, emphasizing night photography, before overnight in Taipei.
Day 4: Taipei – Beipu – Taipei
The day begins with a drive to Beipu/Hsinchu, exploring Hakka landscapes, tea plantations, and small village streets with access to private homes. After a local Hakka lunch, the afternoon is spent immersed in a tea estate, witnessing harvesting and processing, and enjoying a guided tea-tasting session with a tea master. The day concludes with a return to Taipei, dinner at leisure, and overnight stay.
Day 5: Taipei – Yilan
The day begins with a drive to Yilan, stopping in Shifen before 10 a.m. for early-morning photography of lanterns, alleys, and the railway. Late morning continues at Bitoujiao fishing harbor and a coastal hike, capturing landscapes, seascapes, and local life. Lunch with the Amis tribe includes kitchen photography opportunities, followed by afternoon exploration of the Yilan coastline and a dolphin or whale-watching cruise. The day ends with dinner at leisure and overnight in Yilan.
Day 6: Yilan
This day offers an intimate immersion in a remote Yilan aboriginal community, emphasizing authentic human connections and respectful observation. Participants explore traditional lifestyles, daily gestures, and artisanal or culinary skills, with opportunities for intimate, consensual photography. The experience is slow-paced and deeply human, highlighting life in harmony with nature, and concludes with a simple local lunch, dinner at leisure, and overnight in Yilan.
Day 7: Yilan – Taipingshan – Yilan
.The day begins with a mountain drive to Taipingshan, noting changing vegetation and atmosphere, followed by lunch locally. The afternoon is spent exploring Taipingshan National Forest, photographing misty forests, cedars, mosses, and textured landscapes on a 10–12 km walk. The day concludes with a relaxing hot spring visit, return to Yilan, dinner at leisure, and overnight stay.
Day 8: Yilan – Keelung
The day begins with cinematic street photography in Keelung, exploring alleys, stairways, and rainy streets, capturing daily life and reflections under the guide’s facilitation. After lunch, the afternoon shifts to Heping Peninsula’s coastal rock formations and the colorful Zhengbin Fishing Harbor for landscape and documentary shots. The evening includes dinner at Keelung’s night market and, time permitting, a visit to Guanyin Temple for panoramic night views, followed by overnight in Keelung.
Day 9: Keelung – Tamsui
The day offers a pre-dawn fish market auction for early risers, followed by a mountain drive to Tamsui through northern Taiwan’s volcanic landscapes, hot springs, and crater sites. Lunch is at a rural farm with photogenic organic paddies and experimental crops. In the afternoon, the group visits Tianyuan Pagoda for contemplative landscapes before exploring historic Tamsui with guided local interactions. The day ends with free time along the river, dinner at leisure, and overnight in Tamsui.
Day 10: Departure
The day is reserved for free time in the morning for last walks, coffee, or photography, followed by a group transfer to the airport around midday or afternoon, depending on flight schedules.
