I first met her when she was three, bundled in colorful layers against the chill of the Ladakhi plateau, chasing goats across the windswept fields alongside her nomad family. Even then, her curiosity and joy were impossible to miss, a spark as bright as the sun over the mountains.
Now, at five, she moves with the land as naturally as the herds she tends. Mornings bring the rhythm of nomad life: fetching water, helping her mother, guiding the animals. Evenings are spent under the vast sky, where stars whisper stories of the mountains and the generations of nomads who came before her.
In these two short years, I have watched her grow, not just in height, but in spirit. She is becoming a child of the plateau, resilient, free, and deeply connected to the land. She grows with the wind, carrying the traditions of her nomad people while discovering her own place among the mountains of Ladakh..
